Change Your Perception

Do you know someone who believes minor problems are the end of the earth? What they don't realise is that their perception will create their own personal reality.

Individuals who create mountains out of molehills on a regular basis slowly turn their attitude into a habit of thought and language - the more they make a habit of this kind of perception, the more stressed-out they will become. It's important to take control of these stressful thoughts - before they control you.

Persistence is Key

One of the major factors in reducing stress is to change your perception - the good news is that it's very simple to change, all you need is to follow a few easy-to-follow ideas, along with some persistence.

One of the first things you need to pay attention to is how to improve your awareness, especially on the way you look at things, as well as how you label them. Does any of the following sound familiar: "I know I will mess this up" - "I can't deal with this."

To put things another way, do you always see the problem, or solution, in every situation? If you're not sure what your answer is, then you need to pay more attention to how you react to certain situations and be aware of when these thoughts come - address them before they happen, so you can conrol them.

Start to Control Your Thoughts

Once you have built awareness of your perception on things it's time make the decision to start and control your thoughts. You mightn't have the power to control other people, but you do have the power to control yourself, and especially how stressed you feel.

Any stressful thoughts should be disposed of - you do this by creating more positive thoughts anytime a negative thought enters your head. Start to think about new thoughts that make you feel better about yourself. So the next time you find yourself in a situation where you think "I'm such a fool" - replace the thought with "I'm clever and more than capable to do this".

Create a New Habit

If you want to stay focused on the solution, instead of the problem, you need to create the habit of positive thinking. The only way you can create this habit is to persist through, and face, every stressful event that stands in your way. It's important to remember that this will not happen easily, but you can do it, all you have to do is believe in yourself.

So the next time something stressful comes your way, remember the following: stress has more to do with your own personal perception and beliefs - but more importantly, remember that you have the ability to change your perception and beliefs. Always look for the solution; look for the opportunity in every problem.
