Meditation Brings Back One's Peace of Mind

Being Calm Means Being Ready to Face the Stressful World

Meditation is the perfect outlet to become calm, relaxed and much, much happier.

It is not a secret that these are turbulent times that make everyone be on edge all the time, angry with their families, coworkers, friends and relatives, angry, frustrated and highly annoyed. Everything makes them annoyed, from the noise of the loud neighbors, to the blasting music coming from the opposite house, to the loud colleague in the neighbor cubicle who is fighting with a demanding customer.

Sadly, all this anger and suppressed negative energy has a strong influence on everyone's lives, even when they don't realize it. Anxiety and panic attack symptoms will be just one of the results of this stress. This is why it is very important particularly during these trying times to get back that calm, that peace of mind that means getting back the balance and life energy that is so important to living life to its fullest.

Proof That Being Calm Can Change People

Being in a calm state of mind is simply wonderful. Small results of this can be seen when parents no longer snap at their children for any small annoyances; when one can keep his cool when bad things happen and doesn't let the situation become worse by his negative influence and input. There are also bigger results to be seen, at a larger scale. 1993 has seen a very interesting scientific experiment called The US Transcendental Meditation experiment in Washington, whereby the company called TM (famous for their Transcendental Meditation products) got 4,000 calm and relaxed people to simply sit and meditate in a central Washington convention center. The results of this experiment showed that during those particular 8 weeks violent crimes, such as murder, rape, assaults, clearly decreased by as much as 23%.

This is an evident proof that meditation can change the state of mind, can bring back peace of mind and collective meditation is contagious. Just as anything done collectively is contagious. One can just think about the urge to yawn when someone else is yawning. There is the urge to become aggressive (while in normal circumstances the person is very calm and 'normal'), just because he is sitting at a stadium watching a football game and everyone around is shouting and is aggressive, ready to fight.

Meditation Should be Part of Everyone's Life

So if collective meditation has proven that meditation works, that it calms people down and it brings their levels of stress down a few notches, why not employ it in the everyday life? Isn't increasing life quality worth spending 20 minutes of one's time for meditation? Yet, very few people follow through with a meditation regime that should be a joy to do. Many start and leave it at that after only a few sessions. Life always comes in between, and that is always a valid excuse. But meditation should become part of life, not an easy to drop accessory to it.

All it takes is a getting a few minutes of meditation, using one of the many meditation types available freely over the internet and the willingness to bring back one's peace of mind.

Yes, TM is a wonderful meditation practice. It is so easy to do and brings great results. The thing I like about it, as well as being so simple and enjoyable, is that is TM is supported by hundreds of scientific studies showing the benefits to mind, health, and relationship. And as this article mentioned, it can also bring down stress and tension in society and create a more peaceful world. I highly recommend it.
