The signs of aging show that you want to regain the sparkle of youth, but not ready to submit to the plastic surgeons' cold steel. Try non-invasive methods.

Surgery of course is still an option but you want to delay it as long as possible and now you can. There are new non-invasive techniques to rejuvenate the skin and to make it younger looking and most of the treatments take no more than one hour.

There are a number skin rejuvenating of techniques on offer at Bangkok’s international hospitals and beauty clinics; whether it be photo-rejuvenation using intense safe light or thermage that uses ultra-high frequency radio waves, to Botox and collagen injections they all have one thing in common – they can be called the ‘lunchtime face lifts’ and can be completed in the time it takes for you to have lunch.

Photo-rejuvenation and thermage both stimulate the production of collagen in the skin’s deep layers. Collagen gives the skin its elasticity, as we age collagen production reduces making the skin less elastic and producing the crows’ feet, wrinkles and loose skin associated with aging.

Photo-rejuvenation:

By using an intense flash of visible light from the safe spectrum photo-rejuvenation penetrates the superficial skin layers and stimulates collagen production and giving the treated area like your face, neck or hands a younger, fresher look.

Photo-rejuvenation will also remove age spots and spider veins, lessens skin redness and uneven pigmentation and reverses a natural process called photo-aging. Photo-aging is the damage caused to skin by exposure to the sun.

This treatment may be used to destroy unwanted facial or body hair. The hair is subjected to an intense burst of light which is absorbed through the hair pigment then converted into heat that destroys the hair root permanently d. You may need between three to six treatments to totally eradicate all the unwanted or unsightly hair.

Thermage:

Thermage again stimulates the production of collagen but instead of using intense light this process uses high frequency radio waves to heat up the deeper skin layers enhancing the skin's elasticity, smoothing out wrinkles and restoring a youthful appearance.

If it is thermage is used on the forehead it has a skin lifting effect and will raise the eyebrows and enhance the appearance of the eyes making them look more open and alert. Thermage can also be used around the jaw line to reduce the appearance of the jowls.

Although each of these treatments is quick each session taking no longer than an hour, their effects take longer to produce a smoother skin than traditional plastic surgery. The changes appear gradually so an immediate effect will not be seen. Thermage may be suitable for many men and women who do not want others to know that they have had a cosmetic treatment.

With non-invasive treatments the side effects are less. The most common side effects are redness, swelling, bumps and blisters around the treated areas, but these will subside in a few days and do not leave lasting noticeable effects.

Talk over the latest treatment options and their likely effects with your dermatologist who will be able to suggest the best option for your particular needs.

The optimum age to receive either photo-rejuvenation and thermage treatments is between 40 to 50-years as this is when the initial effects of sagging skin become noticeable and whne the best results are gained. However, people in the early to mid-fifties can also benefit from the treatments.

There are some individuals who should not consider these treatments and they include pregnant or nursing mothers, and people with heart pacemakers.
