Staying Healthy in a Toxic EnvironmentHow to Eliminate Toxins and Keep Healthy and Energetic
Everyone knows the need for diet and exercise to stay healthy. But living in a toxic world doesn't help much even if you are eating right and exercising properly.
Few people have much choice when it comes to where they live. The big city is close to every amenity, but smog, industrial pollutants and car exhaust put a heavy toll on those with allergies and respiratory problems. Short of demanding everyone stop driving, there are ways to reduce the toxic load and eliminate the toxins through a day-to-day approach. Most of them deal with the bad habits that have been adopted over the years. SmokingCigarette smoke contains hundreds of foreign chemicals that the body cannot use and often cannot remove. Chemicals are stored in body tissue, one of the main reasons for weight gain. The chemicals interfere with the body's natural ability to do what it must to stay healthy. Quitting smoking is one of the best ways to add health, vitality and extend years. DrinkingA drink with a meal has many healthy benefits, but too many people drink far too much. It becomes a convenient way to soothe jangled nerves and simply forget the stress of life. Drinking to excess makes the body work harder to eliminate excess alcohol in the bloodstream but promotes weight gain and suppresses the body from flushing out the toxins. Excessive drinking causes major damage to organs that are required to eliminate toxins. A far better alternative to a drink is by drinking fresh, unsweetened fruit juice or water which helps in the detoxification process. StressNext to smoking and drinking comes stress. Too many people have the idea that to be productive they must be in a constant hurry, something which happens both day and night. While the body is designed to be productive, it also needs time for relaxation so it can renew its vitality. Too many people don't sleep enough. Sleep time is the best time for the body to work out the poisons accumulated through the day. But it cannot do it under wakeful conditions. Improper Eating HabitsThere was a time when the family sat down to enjoy a good meal along with good conversation. Unfortunately, today's families never get together long enough for simple conversations. Eating on the run is the norm. And when food is consumed it is eaten quickly. Well before the stomach has had the chance to signal the mind that it is full, too much food has been consumed. The result is indigestion, acid reflux, diarrhea and weight gain. Unfortunately, the added fat means more storage capacity for toxins. The EnvironmentThere may be little that can be done outside of the home, but today's sealed homes are often more polluted than the great outdoors. To avoid toxins, biodegradable cleaning products are better alternatives to the harsh chemicals found in most products today. The cosmetics many people use and other bathroom accessories can be more harmful for the skin than nothing at all. Tap water contains residues of many drugs that are routinely flushed down toilets in many households. To stay healthy requires taking an active approach and covering as many areas as possible to give the body a chance to eliminate toxins and get back into a healthy state of equilibrium. Today's world will continue to stay polluted and toxic. But taking the little approaches along with a good diet and exercise will go a long way to avoid many of the diseases that are the result of a overtaxed and toxic body.
